It has come to the attention of Finansinspektionen (FI), the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority, that persons claiming to represent 8888markets are offering Swedish investors to trade with securities.
FI has investigated the matter and has not been able to determine that 8888markets is a going concern. 8888markets is neither authorised by FI to conduct securities business or other financial services in Sweden nor under FI's supervision. FI has not received any notification of cross-border activities from other EEA countries. 8888markets is also not authorised to provide financial services according to the supervisory authority of the country in which the company claims to be domiciled.
FI warns investors and others about doing business with firms that are not authorised to offer financial services. The list of companies authorised to offer financial services can be found at www.fi.se under Company Register.

Central Bank of Ireland Issues Warning on Unauthorised Investment Firm / Investment Business Firm

The Central Bank of Ireland (‘Central Bank’) today (13 August 2018) published the name of an unauthorised firm, 8888Markets (Ireland) – www.8888markets.com.
8888Markets (Ireland) is not authorised by the Central Bank as an investment firm, investment business firm, or to provide investment advice.
A list of unauthorised firms published to date is available on the Central Bank website.
It is a criminal offence for an unauthorised firm/person to provide financial services in Ireland that would require an authorisation under the relevant legislation which the Central Bank is the responsible body for enforcing. Consumers should be aware, that if they deal with a firm/person who is not authorised, they are not eligible for compensation from the Investor Compensation Scheme.
Any person wishing to contact the Central Bank with information regarding such firms/persons may telephone (01) 224 4000. This line is also available to the public to check if a firm is authorised. Since obtaining the necessary legal powers in August 1998, the names of 317 unauthorised firms have been published by the Central Bank.
