The Financial Services Commission has today issued a warning to the public regarding a number of companies carrying on business as online binary options trading platforms.

The FSC has received information concerning websites operated in the name of companies which have actually been struck off the Register of Companies.

References are made on these websites to the companies’ former registered office addresses, in respect of which the companies’ former secretaries have each filed a "Statement that the company does not have authority to maintain registered office (at the address) by the persons having control of the premises" at Companies House.

None of these companies are or were regulated by the FSC, nor licensed under the Financial Services (Markets in Financial Instruments) Act 2006, to carry on investment business in or from within Gibraltar.

Customers of these, or of companies currently providing online platforms for binary options trading are not covered by the Gibraltar Investor Compensation Scheme.

The FSC therefore urges the public to avoid engaging with these companies, as they no longer exist and should not be trading.
