The Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC) is issuing this public warning regarding a website purporting to be that of AKV Financial Holdings Limited. Fraudsters are using this website, falsely purporting to be that of the genuine registered company to try to convince people that they work for a company legally registered within Gibraltar.
This is effectively a ‘clone company’, and this clone company purports to offer currency trading through a spread trading account. They often use the name of the genuine company including their registered office address. The genuine registered company does not engage in financial services or controlled activities nor do they have an active website.
Almost all companies and individuals carrying out financial services activities in Gibraltar have to be authorised by the GFSC. The clone of AKV Financial Holdings Limited is not authorised by the GFSC, nor is an application pending for authorisation at present and the clone company is targeting consumers.
