Acornvest Investment - Waarschuwing DFSA Dubai - 2015-Aug-16

DFSA Warns About "Acornvest Investment" Scam

The Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) alerts the financial services community and members of the public about a fraudulent Advance Fee scam promoted by a fictitious investment company named Acornvest Investment, who falsely claim to be located in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and falsely use the name of a UAE government department.

The scammers inform consumers that:

they specialise in personal, business and investment loans;
they offer a wide range of funds and loans for investment purposes;
loans offered require that a "Letter of Guarantee" and "Certificate of Origin" be obtained from the UAE government departments; and
an Advance Fee of USD15,992.00 is required to be paid by customers in order to secure the "Letter of Guarantee" and "Certificate of Origin".

The following fake website is used to promote the scam:

http://www.acornvest.com/index.html

The scammers provide consumers with false documents in the form of "Loan Terms & Conditions" and a "Letter of Intent". The false documents can be viewed here.

The DFSA informs you that:

you should not pay any money to Acornvest Investment;
Acornvest Investment does not exist in the DIFC; and
the scammers have fraudulently used the DIFC to promote their scam without authority and for a malicious purpose.

The DFSA has a page on its website dedicated to Alerts which it has issued about scams. All Alerts issued by the DFSA may be accessed by going to:
